No independent statistical series meets our sourcing bar yet
Somaliland declared independence in 1991 and has not been recognised by the United Nations or any member state. Where its figures are collected at all, they are reported within Somalia's.
Every figure in a Terralore dossier carries the publisher that produced it and the year it refers to. Where no such figure exists we record the gap rather than estimating one — an imputed number is indistinguishable from a sourced one once it is rendered in the same card, and that would make the whole dossier un-citable.
What is above — capital, population, area, languages, currency — comes from the atlas' own reference dataset. It is a smaller claim, honestly made.
A self-declared republic on the Gulf of Aden — heir to an ancient trading coast and a former British protectorate — that has governed itself in peace since 1991 while the question of its international recognition remains unresolved.
Pilot a cinematic, sourced journey through its eras — moment by moment.
