    Russia abolishes the Kazakh khanates

    Britain founds an anti-slavery base at Port Clarence

    With Spanish acquiescence, the Royal Navy under William Fitzwilliam Owen established a base on Fernando Pó in 1827, founding Port Clarence (later Santa Isabel/Malabo) to support the squadron suppressing the Atlantic slave trade.
