Treaty of Nerchinsk fixes the Russian-Qing border

Envoys of the Russian tsars, led by Fyodor Golovin, and of the Qing Kangxi Emperor, led by Songgotu, agree the first Sino-Russian border treaty near Nerchinsk. The Russian fort of Albazin on the Amur is to be destroyed and the border follows the Argun and Gorbitsa rivers and the Stanovoy range toward the Sea of Okhotsk; the Latin text is the authoritative version. Sources give 27 August (Old Style) and 29 August for the signing.
